" One change, makes all the difference."
Sustainable Living in Houston's mission is to provide education and resources to those living in the Greater Houston area with limited
or no knowledge about the environment and sustainable living.  Some of our focuses include recycling, alternative transportation,
    organic/local foods and childhood education.
SLH provides education and resources to those living in the Greater
Houston area with limited or no knowledge about the environment and
sustainable living.

As a group, we believe not one aspect of the environment is more
important than the other.  Instead, we strive to blend them all to create
a more peaceful and sustainable world for us.

Yes, this a lot to tackle! That is why each member is dedicated to a
passion that inevitably transfers to others.
Our mission is to provide education and
resources to those living in the Greater Houston
area with limited or no knowledge about the
environment and sustainable living.
Our Vision is to have all businesses, government
authorities and households involved in the process
of sustainable living.
Sustainable Living in Houston has chosen the
turtle as its mascot to symbolize “slow and
steady”.

As a representative of those living in
unincorporated Harris County, SLH
understands small, incremental steps are most
effective.  Not fast and erratic changes like
the hare, but changes that over time will make
a difference in the long run.

Just like the turtle, one step at a time...

Why the Turtle?
Recycling - We brought temporary recycling ports areas that need it most!  SLH created
Drop and Swap! to educate the community about recycling and actually put it into action.

Complete Streets - We support local advocacy groups who push for changes in our
street layouts including grassy medians, bike lanes and sidewalks.  SLH sponsored a
National Walk to School Day bringing attention to the lack of sidewalks connecting to our
local schools.

Local/Organic Foods - SLH provides education on the importance of knowing where
your coming food comes from and works with local producers/vendors to promote
healthier foods.

Sustainability - We encourage everyone to adopt one action that makes an impact.
1,000,000 people making one change in the Houston - that is our goal.
