Sustainable Living in Houston's mission is to provide education and resources to those living in the Greater Houston area with limited
or no knowledge about the environment and sustainable living.  Some of our focuses include recycling, alternative transportation,
    organic/local foods and childhood education.
The Environmental Working Group
investigated the pesticide exposure on fruits
and vegetables.  To make it easy for the
consumer, they put the 12 worst and 15 best
on this convenient shopper's guide

Organic Shopping Guide
Local Foods
Since the average grocery store's produce travels over 1,500
miles from farm to store, a movement to eat locally is growing.
In Houston, more and more co-op and CSA (community
supported agriculture) groups are starting - each promoting
local and/or organic produce.

Local foods lessen the amount of petroleum used from
transportation, paper and plastic from processing, as well as air
and water pollution from industrial processing plants.

So support your immediate economy, reduce pollution and eat
healthier by buying local foods!
